Welcome 2012 Blog Post
January 2012 blog post
Welcome 2012!!!
Hey, hope everyone had a great break over the Holiday’s, I know I did! Nothing like a little break to refresh then get back on track! The only thing that could have been better about the break was more snow! I mean, this is Utah, the best snow on earth! Everyone needs to do a snow dance.
Park Silly Sunday Market made a big move after the Holiday’s and we no longer have office space on Main Street. The move was crazy but we are loving the new office space. Now that we are all moved in we are trying to get back in to work mode.
Just so everyone knows, our offices are now in Prospector, which is a great location and still very close to Main Street. Once the office is revamped and ready to go, we would love for you guys to swing by sometime and check it out. I think you will be impressed.
We are already working hard to make sure we all have a silly summer season! If any of you are interested in booth space, just call Cole, he is very friendly and his contact info is on our website.
Sincerely Silly

Park Silly Sunday Farmers Market Offers Easy Access to Healthy Food and a Bolstered Local Economy
July 22, 2011
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Park City, UT—Park Silly Sunday Market offers something more than just an eco-friendly street festival and a silly good time. Although, it definitely does offer all of that, it also offers a diverse mixture of local farmers, bakers and food creatives with its Farmer’s Market.
Most all of the vendors at the Silly Farmers Market are local. And according to a recent New York Times article, buying local not only means friendly on the environment, but it also means healthier food and a bolstered local economy.
Park Silly’s Farmers Market has plenty of local Utah and Park City flavor and spirit to go around, ranging from Jensen Farms, who offer 100 different varieties of peaches, and The Sweet Brigadier, who can tell you 10 reasons why chocolate can save your life, to Red Bicycle Breadworks, an artisanal bread maker claiming to be “keeping PC crusty.”
“Park Silly’s Farmers Market is a great way to support the local economy while stocking your supply of healthy produce and gourmet baked goods,” says Alexandra Bassett, Park Silly’s Vendor Fairy.
Large food companies do not typically produce local Utah foods. Large food companies tend to use a variety of chemicals to help mass produce their produce, and add refined sugars, carbohydrates and preservatives to processed foods. By buying local consumers can avoid unhealthy foods and enjoy fresher foods that do not have to be transported great distances, according to a New York Times article.
And according to farmersmarketcoaliton.org, local farmers markets stimulate local economies and strengthen communities “Approximately 25% of vendors at farmers markets derive their sole source of income from farmers market sales, and 80% of vendors at farmers markets said that farmers markets provide them a greater source of business development than any other possible marketing outlet,” according to the coalition.
“We are hoping to grow the Farmer’s Market soon. We’re getting several requests by local farmers and consumers alike. And because the Park Silly Sunday Market is a community market, we are looking at the possibility of offering food stamps at the Market as well,” said Kimberly Kuehn, Co-founder of the Park Silly Sunday Market.
The Farmers Market portion of the Park Silly Sunday Market is located on 5th Street, next to the post office, on Park City’s Historic Main Street up from the main portion of the Park Silly Sunday Market. Happening every Sunday (except August 7th) through September 25th.
